Oddfellows Hotel Wedding

Rachel and Daniel

This was my first wedding at the oddfellows Hotel Chester, and I genuinely hope it’s not going to be the last! Fun, quirky & a touch of some crazy decor (see ahem Alice and wonderland chairs). Smack bang in the heart of Chester this boutique wedding venue and hotel takes some beating so when Rachel & Daniel asked me to be there Oddfellows Hotel wedding photographer for their big day of course I jumped at the chance. I was especially excited when they both started telling me about their plans for the day and what sort of look and feel they were going for. Think sophisticated city centre party with a bit or urban chic for their Chester wedding venue. I'm was absolutely in from the very beginning!

So on with the day itself & Rachel & Daniel's Oddfellows hotel wedding in Chester. I arrived early (as always) which allowed me to scope out the surrounding area. Being from just outside Chester I know these streets very well so I had a few ideas up my sleeve for later on! With that being the case I went straight to see Rachel who'd spent the night before in the …apartments. These are part of the oddfellows family and designed in the same boutique elegance. Plus located literally a 30 seconds walk away across the road you can't really go wrong!

The girls were in full swing when I walked in. Prosecco flowing and in complete prep mode. I love capturing this sort of excitement before the main show and we got some great moments. (none of the bridesmaids eating toast/croissants though I promise. I have a strict no shots of people eating rule so please don’t panic!) I also managed to get a few shots of the boys who had ventured down to the local pub for a bit of dutch courage and then it was on to the ceremony!

Rachel + Daniel who not only looked super stylish, but are also super lovely and down to earth, you just can’t help but love them. So when Rachel arrived in her beautiful cocktail 1950's inspired wedding dress and then boys in the cool bow ties (as well Daniel in his funky blue blazer!) I instantly thought these guys have nailed it and we’re going to get some great photos.

The ceremony itself took place in Oddfellows hotel & after some beautiful vows the bride and groom celebrated with friends across the building on the private terrace of The Grown Up Bar. As usual there was no posing. Just a fantastic couple celebrating there wedding with all their loved ones & I just captured all those perfect ‘micro moments” of joy, laughter and a couples off tears thrown in for good measure.

Rachel and Daniel had also said what was important to them though was getting some cool bride and groom portraits in the city centre. They really wanted an urban and also historic feel to the images which fortunately is what Chester has in abundance. So we hit the streets for a quick 15 minute walk around the cobbles and then got the happy couple back to the to the party to dance the night way on the dance-floor!

Thanks guys and big thank you to all the staff at Oddfellows Hotel it was a blast!
